Boston, MA — The New England Hellenic Medical and Dental Society has honored Dr. Efstathios Papavasileiou for his outstanding contributions to the field of medicine and his long-standing service as a neurosurgeon.
Dr. Papavasileiou, based in Boston, Massachusetts, is recognized for a career that spans more than 30 years. He has earned a reputation as a leading expert in neurosurgery, specializing in complex spinal procedures, degenerative spine diseases, disc arthroplasty, epilepsy, microvascular decompression, and movement disorders.
Born in Athens, Greece, Dr. Papavasileiou completed his medical degree at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. He later trained at several prestigious institutions, including the University of California San Francisco Medical Center and the National Institutes of Health. His education and training reflect a strong foundation in both clinical excellence and research.
Currently, Dr. Papavasileiou serves as an Assistant Professor of Neurosurgery at Harvard Medical School. He is board certified by the American Board of Neurological Surgery and practices at both Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center and Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital–Milton. He offers care through both in-person and telehealth services.
The award from the New England Hellenic Medical and Dental Society highlights Dr. Papavasileiou’s role as a leader in neurosurgery and as a mentor to future generations of doctors. The Society also recognized his efforts to advance healthcare access and education within the Greek-American community.
