The All India Dental Students and Surgeons Association (AIDSA) has formally requested the Telangana government to establish functional dental units in all state-run medical colleges. On Tuesday, April 8, 2025, the association submitted a representation to the Director of Medical Education (DME), urging immediate action to appoint qualified dental faculty and set up dedicated dental departments across the state’s medical institutions.
Dr. MD Manzur Ahmed, the national president of AIDSA, emphasized that the request is in line with the Gazette of India notifications from July 3, 2015, and March 10, 2017, as well as staffing norms set by the National Medical Commission (NMC). “Integrating dental departments in medical colleges is crucial for offering comprehensive training to future doctors and enhancing access to oral healthcare,” Dr. Ahmed stated after submitting the request.
AIDSA’s move aims to improve the quality of medical education and broaden the scope of healthcare services in the region.
