FISHERSVILLE, Va. (WHSV) – The Augusta Regional Dental Clinic will host a free two-day clinic this Friday and Saturday, providing essential dental care to uninsured residents of the SAW region.
Sophie Parson, the clinic’s executive director, emphasized the high cost of dental care, which can be a significant barrier for those without insurance. Routine procedures, such as cleanings, can cost hundreds of dollars, making access difficult for many individuals and families.
“Even our neighbors who work multiple jobs and are raising a family struggle to afford dental care,” Parson said. “For many, it’s just not possible to set aside time and money for these procedures.”
Lack of regular dental care can lead to severe health issues, Parson warned. “An undiagnosed and untreated dental condition can result in serious complications, including heart disease, stroke, and diabetes,” she said. “It’s a health concern that needs urgent attention.”
The clinic’s free event is made possible through the support of volunteers and sponsors. A dedicated team, including a volunteer dentist, hygienist, dental assistant, and community members, will provide care to those in need.
This initiative aims to bridge the gap in dental care accessibility and promote overall health and well-being for uninsured residents in the region.
