REDDING, Calif. – A new dental office in Redding is on a mission to help local children avoid tooth decay and cavities.
Children’s Choice Dental Care, located on Churn Creek Road next to Home Depot, officially opened its doors with a grand celebration on Wednesday afternoon. The event featured a bounce house, a basketball hoop, a live DJ, food, and even an appearance by Santa Claus.
Jeff Jacobson, the Chief Clinical Officer for Children’s Choice, explained the need for the office in Redding. “51% of third graders in Northern California suffer from some form of tooth decay. That’s a significant number,” he said.
This new location marks the 28th Children’s Choice office in California.
The Redding office opened quietly about a month ago to begin addressing a key issue: providing dental care to underserved communities. “Approximately 85% of our patients are on Medicaid,” Jacobson noted. “Redding is an area with a real need for accessible dental care, and that’s why we chose to open here.”
Children’s Choice Dental Care accepts all insurance plans and features both an onsite orthodontist and dentist, focusing on children’s dental health.
Redding Mayor Tenessa Audette spoke at the grand opening, sharing her personal experience. “I didn’t have a dentist until I was 12, so going to the dentist was always difficult. When kids can’t afford dental care, having a place to go for preventative services is something we want for all our children,” she said.
Since its soft opening, Children’s Choice has been seeing 40 to 50 patients a day. The office’s goal is to make dental care more accessible and enjoyable for kids in the Redding area.
