Plans to convert a town center dental surgery into a 10-person House in Multiple Occupation (HMO) have been approved by Watford Borough Council.
The property, located at 4A Market Street, was previously used as a dentist’s office. It was formerly occupied by Market Street Dental Practice, which relocated to 8 Market Street three years ago, so the new development will not affect their operations.
According to documents filed on April 24, the council has approved the change of use, citing that the conversion will provide “good quality accommodation.”
The HMO will occupy the first and second floors of the building, with access via the existing ground-floor entrance from Market Street. The space that was once used for dental surgeries will be transformed into bedrooms. Additionally, a new bedroom will be added on the roof level.
Plans also include removing walls between a surgery room, the staff kitchen, and a storeroom to create a shared kitchen area. The property will be registered as a five-room HMO, designed to accommodate up to 10 residents.
