New Rossy Clinic to Improve Oral Health for Thousands at U of T’s Faculty of Dentistry

The University of Toronto’s Faculty of Dentistry has long been committed to providing high-quality, affordable dental care.

The faculty understands that access to good dental care not only improves economic mobility but also prevents various health issues related to poor oral health and chronic pain. The Faculty of Dentistry is home to Canada’s largest and most diverse network of dental teaching clinics and treatment centers.

Thanks to a transformative donation from The Rossy Foundation, along with additional funding from the University of Toronto, the Rossy Clinic will soon offer dental care to thousands of patients, including those from low-income backgrounds and recent immigrants. The newly redesigned clinic, located in downtown Toronto, is set to play a key role in widening access to essential dental services.

Addressing a Need in Community Dental Care

“The University of Toronto is deeply grateful to The Rossy Foundation for their generous donation to the Rossy Clinic,” said U of T President Meric Gertler. “This contribution will help us provide much-needed dental care to thousands of people in our community while also offering our students a chance to learn in a state-of-the-art environment.”

The clinic, located at 124 Edward Street, is undergoing a $38-million renovation to create a modern facility. The updated Rossy Clinic will feature 60 partially open operatories and 15 enclosed operatories, all equipped with advanced care technology. These improvements are designed to enhance patient comfort, optimize treatment, and provide valuable hands-on learning experiences for dental students. Renovations will also include a complete redesign of the reception areas, along with an elevator to improve accessibility for patients.

“This initiative is important not only for increasing access to quality dental care but also for improving the health and quality of life for many individuals who rely on the clinic,” said Sara Pedersen, Chief Program Officer of The Rossy Foundation. “By supporting this project, we are also helping to educate the next generation of dental professionals.”
