Flemington, NJ – Hunterdo County has introduced a new initiative aimed at providing dental care to those who need it most.
The Dental Access Program, supported by the county’s Health Department and funded by a grant from Delta Dental, will offer free and low-cost dental services to underserved groups, including children, individuals with disabilities, seniors, and veterans. This program will run until June 30, 2027.
The Health Department’s Public Health Nursing Division will collaborate with local dentists to deliver these services. All costs associated with the program will be covered using the grant funds.
Hunterdon County Commissioner Shaun Van Doren, who serves as the liaison to the Health Department, emphasized the importance of this initiative. “By increasing access to dental care for vulnerable populations, we are addressing a critical need and working towards improving long-term health outcomes through preventative medicine.
This approach helps lower overall healthcare costs,” Commissioner Van Doren explained.
This program aligns with broader efforts by Delta Dental to enhance oral health care across New Jersey, particularly for uninsured and underinsured populations. The initiative reflects a commitment to improving health equity and ensuring that everyone has access to essential dental services.
