Pearl & Plandent Partner to Expand AI-Powered Dental Diagnostics Across The Nordics And Germany

by Audrey

Industry News – Pearl, a global leader in dental AI technology, has teamed up with Plandent Division, Europe’s second-largest distributor of dental supplies and services, to broaden the reach of Pearl’s AI-driven diagnostic tool, Second Opinion, in the Nordic countries and Germany. This partnership will integrate Second Opinion into Planmeca’s imaging software platform, Planmeca Romexis, enhancing its diagnostic capabilities.

This new collaboration builds on an existing partnership between Pearl and Planmeca, established in 2023, which introduced AI-powered image analysis to users of Planmeca Romexis. Planmeca, which owns Plandent Division, is a private company renowned for its development of dental equipment, including digital dental units and advanced imaging devices.

Ophir Tanz, founder and CEO of Pearl, highlighted the significance of expanding their partnership with Planmeca. “When we partnered with Planmeca Romexis last year, we knew we were aligning with one of the most advanced imaging platforms in dentistry. Expanding our presence across the Nordics and Germany is crucial for our continued growth in both small businesses and larger dental service organizations worldwide,” Tanz said. “Our goal is to streamline clinical workflows and help lead the dental industry toward a fully AI-powered future.”

Second Opinion is the first and only chairside AI software with global regulatory approvals to assist in detecting a wide range of dental conditions in bitewing, periapical, and panoramic X-rays for adult patients aged 12 and older. For Planmeca Romexis users, Second Opinion is seamlessly integrated, providing AI evaluations of 2D intraoral X-ray images within the Romexis platform. This integration helps dental professionals enhance diagnostics, improve patient communication, and deliver a higher standard of care.

Plandent’s Vice President, Janne Antilla, emphasized the importance of this collaboration for the dental community. “As a leading dental supplier in Northern and Central Europe, we are committed to providing our customers with cutting-edge dental equipment, software, and expert services,” Antilla said. “Partnering with Pearl will further enhance diagnostic accuracy, consistency, and transparency, empowering Romexis users with the latest AI technology to improve clinical workflows and patient communication.”

This partnership marks a significant step forward in the adoption of AI-powered tools in dentistry, offering promising solutions to improve the quality of care and operational efficiency in dental practices across Europe.
